Birthstones are a long-loved tradition. Most people know their own birthstone. Many mothers learn the birthstones of their children. Thought I don’t think it’s against the average consensus to say that most men don’t know their own birthstone…
When it comes to gift-giving, birthstones are a great thing to know about. When you give someone a gift that involves their birthstone in one way or another they will appreciate the thought and effort put into the gift. Below are the birthstones by month:
January: Garnet
February: Amethyst
March: Aquamarine
April: Diamond
May: Emerald
June: Pearl/Moonstone
July: Ruby
August: Peridot
September: Sapphire
October: Opal/Tourmaline
November: Yellow Citrine/Topaz
December: Turquoise/Topaz/Tanzanite (December is extra indecisive)

When people think of Topaz, they generally think “blue.” The reality is, however, that Topaz varies in color from blue to green to pink to yellow to almost whatever you’d like it to be!
Topaz was thought to heal people during the Middle Ages. The Greeks believed it had the magical power to increase strength and to make its wearer invisible. Romans thought it to improve eyesight. Even the Egyptians had beliefs in the magical abilities of Topaz, believing it to protect them from injury.
Why all this lore came about I do not know, but I do know that Topaz has the power to make its wearer feel gorgeous and glamorous! The transparency of the gem stone makes it glow in the sunlight and makes the wearer feel like royalty.

I love starfish. Admittedly I have an unjustified fear of the ocean and all things that dwell within its choppy, creepy waters. I’ve never run into a shark or been stung by a stingray, but my unjustified fear holds true!
One thing I do love, however, is the starfish. They are just so cute. I have even touched starfish before! I know, it was a huge step.
More beautiful, though, are the jewelry pieces inspired by starfish. Take this lovely pendant, for instance. Made of 14K yellow gold and hanging on an 18-inch chain, this pendant holds a total of 10.90 carats worth of semiprecious gems.
Included in this pendant are two purple amethyst gems, three yellow citrines, four green Peridot gems and two blue topaz stones.

Radiation treatment is similar to heat treatment in the sense that it is used to alter and enhance the color of gems.
For example, most blue topaz on the market has been radiation treated to change the color from white to blue. This treatment brings out the brilliant coloring we have come to love and even expect from topaz.
When improperly handled and treated, gems will often have a slight residual effect from the radiation treatment. Imported stones, however, pass through very strict requirements and inspections to ensure quality and safety to the public.
Radiation is just one of the treatments used on gemstones to create richer coloring and better quality stones than are available naturally. It is perfectly safe when done following strict laws and processes and can create beautiful results.

Topaz is named after the Greek word topazos, meaning “to seek”—also named after the island Topazos which was apparently difficult to locate in ancient Greek times.
Anciently, yellow topaz was thought to be a stone of the sun and was often worn by royalty. Topaz was thought to promote good sight and a clear mind. Anciently, topaz was thought to protect the wearer from harm.
Today, we may not follow and believe all the lore behind topaz, but we can certainly appreciate the beauty of the stone. Topaz is available in a variety of colors.
This bracelet features 15 emerald cut blue topaz gems and 30 round cut diamonds set in a yellow gold setting. The piece has a total carat weight of 10.30 carats and features a box clasp for easy closure. Bid today!
