The Truth About Box Clasps
There are several different types of jewelry clasps to keep your jewelry firmly around your neck/wrist/ankle. One popular type of clasp is called the box clasp.
The box clasp is often used in bracelets and necklaces. These clasps are made of two metal pieces that fit together like a puzzle. They open when you push down on the exterior lever of a wedge-shaped piece of metal, thus compressing it so that it slides out of the box opening. Push it back in to close the clasp firmly; it clicks into place, so you can hear and feel that it has closed. How convenient!
Box clasps are popular as they are very easy to use, but because of their design they often do not have as much strength as lobster claw clasps. They can come in all shapes and sizes and can be very plain or very decorative, almost like metallic lace.
You will often see pieces in our online jewelry auction that feature box clasps. The box clasp is a smart design; take notice of the diversity of this design when you view our auctions.
