Lead Found in Children’s Jewelry
March 6th, 2007 by J. Glanton
A wildlife pathologist in Albany, NY, went to various stores in the area and purchased children’s jewelry. The goal was to test the pieces for potentially hazardous materials.
He found that many of the items are loaded with lead. This raises a concern that if a child places the materials in their mouthes, the lead could rub off and possibly poison the child.
Efforts are being made to further test the jewels to discover how widespread the threat is.
