Diopside Bracelet

diopside_cuff.jpgThis beautiful cuff bracelet, valued at $12,489.00 retail, holds a total carat weight of 26.65 carats. It is a gorgeous piece of jewelry and made of 14K white gold. The bracelet features a box clasp closure for easy application.

Though the piece is dotted with 10 round cut white diamonds, the bulk of the gems are round cut green diopside. In fact there are 222 of them!

So what is diopside? It is a mineral. The stone can be found in a variety of beautiful colors, including clear, white, blues, greens, yellows and browns. It comes in both transparent and translucent varieties. It’s name is derived from the Greek dis, “twise”, and opse, “face” referring to the two ways of distinguishing the cleavage.

This beautiful cuff bracelet is 12mm wide, 4mm high and 7 inches in length. Bid today to add this piece to your collection.

Sapphire Lore

Have you ever wondered how long people have doted over sapphires? Sapphire has been a popular gemstone for a longer amount of time than any of us actually need to know. All we really need to know is that sapphire is a gorgeous gemstone, and I’d say we’re already quite knowledgeable in that respect!

We most commonly know sapphires to exhibit a gorgeous deep blue coloring, but sapphire is actually available in a variety of bright colors (often assisted to brighter coloring through heat treatments). Sapphires come in pink, green, yellow, purple, blue, clear—as I said, a variety of colors. And beautiful colors, at that.

As legend states, sapphire is believed to offer healing properties for those suffering from colic, rheumatism and mental illnesses. It has also been used as an antidepressant and to provide spiritual enlightenment and inner peace to the wearer/beholder. Quite the impressive little stone, eh? Yes, I’d say so.
