Wow! That is a dangerous looking necklace, most definitely eye catching and a tribute to the designer’s imagination.

“Husband and wife duo, Thea Grant and Nicolas Bazzani, are the masterminds behind the label, Thea Grant Jewelry. Thea, a Brooklyn native, founded the company in 2003, after having much success with her designs on the runway…
Together, Thea and Nicolas create beautiful yet oddly unique jewels by combining unexpected objects like for this Clermont Avenue Necklace. Vintage objects, fobs and charms are likely to grace a Thea Grant piece. Materials used range from vintage brass to sterling to gold, and the result is anywhere from delicately gothic to edgy rock ‘n’ roll.”

The delicate honeycomb design of this Anya Pinchuk bracelet almost suggests movement, as if radiance circulated through the complex web.

From the designer:
“My work is dominated by structure and abstraction. I try to create the illusion of a solid surface by using positive and negative spaces, light and shadows, and transparency. In my work I use my knowledge of geometry to create three dimensional volumetric forms using planes, tubes, and cones, juxtaposing somewhat organic silhouettes and geometric shapes, structure, and patterns. I use repetition as a principle.”

Jewelry is simply an art form that we are privileged to wear. A gift of a piece of jewelry as elegant and unique as the one above becomes a treasured heirloom passed down through generations, a signal from the past, a moment of love or friendship made forever touchable with a ring or a pendant or a broach.

David Godwin has been receiving great praise for his exuberance and unique viewpoint in creating jewelry that seems to leap from the body. Seen here is one of his may innovative offerings. Below, he describes his work.

“My work stems from a fascination of the structure of objects that surrounds us. Whether it is man made or natural, the underlying structure of an object determines how it will look. It is a revealing process, removing the skin from an object to see the structure beneath.
This translates into my jewelry and I draw inspiration from everyday objects which stretch from one end of the spectrum to the other. A leaf for example has many different elements in its make up but yet it is one of the simplest forms, my jewellery exaggerates these forms. The forms become more regular and geometric through the process of design.
I utilise computer based technologies and combine them with traditional jewellery making skills to produce work that would arguably not exist otherwise.”

Jewelry designer Iosselliani invokes mystery with this intricately crafted reptilian-like necklace. One might imagine an enchantress from the legends of Merlin wearing this while invoking a spell.

“Composed of scaly, intertwined silver chains held together by four silver loops, the robust but finely detailed bracelet begs for closer inspection. Bejeweled serpent heads, glittering with semi-precious stones, hang from the sides, each one unique. Wrap it around your wrist and you’ll see that with all the dangling and coiling, this is a bracelet that doesn’t need any additional charms.”

French artist Hubert Duprat has a special collaboration with nature and in particular, with the caddis fly whose artistry he depends on in the making of these amazing jeweled pieces.

“After collecting the [caddis fly] larvae from their normal environments, [Duprat] relocates them to his studio where he gently removes their own natural cases and then places them in aquaria that he fills with alternative materials from which they can begin to recreate their protective sheaths. He began with only gold spangles but has since also added the kinds of semi-precious and precious stones (including turquoise, opals, lapis lazuli and coral, as well as pearls, rubies, sapphires, and diamonds) seen here. The insects do not always incorporate all the available materials into their case designs, and certain larvae, Duprat notes, seem to have better facility with some materials than with others. Additionally, cases built by one insect and then discarded when it evolves into its fly state are sometimes recovered by other larvae, who may repurpose it by adding to or altering its size and form.”

Delicate globes of emerald glass, suspended like raindrops from a thin silver express the clarity and philosophy of it’s designer, Amy Bengtson.

“I have always had a love of small, delicate objects and clean design. The underlying geometry and beauty in nature are endless sources of inspiration for me. Growing up with a Swedish heritage refined my sense of style, and having a degree in architecture brought structure and a sense of balance to my pieces. .
My approach to jewelry-making closely parallels my philosophy of life, which is to find clarity in all kinds of situations with just a touch of humor.”

This demure and elegantly crafted hin got necklace suggests a by gone era of teas and soirees. Or a funky fun night out - either way, the creativity and artistry is evident in each delicate detail.

“Warm, rich cultivated pearls are mixed with a soft white mother of pearl blossom. These warm pearly hues are accented with hand carved leaves made of shimmering water-toned turquoise. The beads used in this sumptuous blossom arrangement are held together using oxidized sterling silver wire which has been carefully twisted and wrapped to maintain this pleasing shape.
This necklace is made up of three strands of irregular cultivated pearls. Hin got closes with an oxidized sterling silver lobster claw clasp and 5cm (2in) adjustable chain.”

This MK Wind unisex, pierced diamond link, sterling silver arm wear distinguishes the wearer with it’s polished blunt lines and sculpted abstract design.

“The journey of MK Wind began with a passion for distinctive body adornment by designer Shelley Koscielniak. Her designs are bold and graphic thriving on the juxtaposition of materials, mixing recycled resin and glass with precious metals, cultured pearls and semi-precious stones. Embracing her many art influences, her colour palettes are inspired by the spontaneity and mysticism of Abstract Expressionism. Meticulously crafted sculptures reflect the aesthetic of Minimalism, modern architecture and Asian calligraphy.”

Still in the prototype stage, this “jewelry” brings new meaning to the word luminous. Conceived and executed by designer Kyeok Kim.
“…The “Aurora” accessories designed by Kyeok Kim are intended, according to the designer, to “reinterpret the meaning of ornamentation on the body by projecting various patterns of light on the wearer. The end result resembles a sort of light-up tattoo. But there’s more; the light is controlled by magnets contained in a corresponding ring. So when the geographical relationship between the two pieces of jewelry changes, so does the pattern.”
