Most people know their own birthstone. Many mothers learn the birthstones of their children. I don’t think it’s against the average consensus to say that most men don’t know their own birthstone…

The gems seen as the birthstones for every month actually have a reason for being dubbed birthstones. Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August. But why? Apparently the origins lead us to volcanic islands such as the islands of Hawaii.
Peridot is formed as a result of volcanic activity. Hawaiian lore believes Peridot to be the tears of the Pele, the goddess of volcanoes. Bits of Peridot can be found on Hawaii’s black beaches, helping the beach to shimmer in the sunlight.
Throughout history, Peridot has been used as a means to connect with us nature. Early Egyptian priests drank Soma from cups made of Peridot, believing it to draw them closer to the goddess of nature, Isis.
The striking green of Peridot reminds us of the last leaves of the summer. The month of August still boasts green leaves, but fall is just around the corner bringing with it new colors and, in many places, abandoning most of the green.

Do you ever stop and watch people as they shop? Some people are born to shop and it shows—they walk into the store knowing exactly where everything is (even if they’ve never been there before), grab everything on their list (which is undoubtedly a mental list—they don’t need paper!), pay at the register and they are out within 10 minutes.
Then there are those other people who have only one item on their list and spend half an hour trying to make a decision. For instance, maybe they want to buy some juice…but what kind? They can stare at the juice isle forever before finally deciding to get the first one they picked up!
If you happen to be an indecisive shopper, or if you happen to be shopping for a gift for an indecisive friend, these earrings may be just the ticket. These yellow gold earrings hold a variety of precious gems within their little flasks. The earrings include purple amethyst, icy blue aquamarine, yellow citrine, white diamond, and golden green Peridot all mixed together to form a colorful array of gems. Check them out!

Showy colors are best used in moderation—as accents rather than mains. That’s what makes this showy green pendant the perfect accessory, especially for fall!
This simple, colorful green ring pendant is made up of 30 round cut Peridot gems. Peridot, which is best known in its green varieties, is admired for its beautiful sunlit glow. The gem symbolizes warmth and charity, so it’s the perfect piece to wear during the colder upcoming months.
