The end of November marks a fabulous time of year in San Francisco (namely San Mateo). This past Thanksgiving weekend was the annual Gem Show—an event my sisters, mother and I enjoy attending.

Though we used to attend simply to gawk and grab a few new pieces of jewelry, the event is now one of the utmost importance for my jeweler sister. Swarovski crystal is the luxury name for the precision-cut crystals produced by the Swarovski company of Switzerland. The company even owns an indoor crystal-themed theme park showcasing their pieces!

We may not be able to pop over to Switzerland for a ride on a crystal roller coaster, but we can certainly appreciate the precision-cut beauty of the Swarovski crystal in our fine jewelry.
