Birthstones are a long-loved tradition. Most people know their own birthstone. Many mothers learn the birthstones of their children. Thought I don’t think it’s against the average consensus to say that most men don’t know their own birthstone…
When it comes to gift-giving, birthstones are a great thing to know about. When you give someone a gift that involves their birthstone in one way or another they will appreciate the thought and effort put into the gift. Below are the birthstones by month:
January: Garnet
February: Amethyst
March: Aquamarine
April: Diamond
May: Emerald
June: Pearl/Moonstone
July: Ruby
August: Peridot
September: Sapphire
October: Opal/Tourmaline
November: Yellow Citrine/Topaz
December: Turquoise/Topaz/Tanzanite (December is extra indecisive)

When people think of Topaz, they generally think “blue.” The reality is, however, that Topaz varies in color from blue to green to pink to yellow to almost whatever you’d like it to be!
Topaz was thought to heal people during the Middle Ages. The Greeks believed it had the magical power to increase strength and to make its wearer invisible. Romans thought it to improve eyesight. Even the Egyptians had beliefs in the magical abilities of Topaz, believing it to protect them from injury.
Why all this lore came about I do not know, but I do know that Topaz has the power to make its wearer feel gorgeous and glamorous! The transparency of the gem stone makes it glow in the sunlight and makes the wearer feel like royalty.
